How to adjust the pressure of the sludge dewatering screw press?
Jul 30, 2025
This baffle is located at the discharge end of the sludge dewatering screw press and can be mechanically adjusted to open or close. When the baffle is moved inward, the discharge channel becomes narrower, increasing the resistance encountered by the sludge before discharge and subsequently increasing the pressure inside the equipment. Conversely, when the baffle is moved outward, the discharge resistance decreases, and the pressure inside the chamber decreases accordingly. This structure is the core component for controlling the dewatering pressure. By adjusting its position, the pressure applied to the sludge can be directly adjusted.
Different sludge properties have different pressure requirements. For sludge with high viscosity and difficulty in dewatering, increased pressure is needed to promote water separation. For sludge with a looser texture, excessive pressure may cause the filter cake to become too compact, negatively impacting dewatering efficiency. In these cases, the pressure should be appropriately reduced. Operators should observe the dewatering status and cake formation of the sludge to determine whether the current pressure is appropriate and make targeted adjustments.
While adjusting the baffle position, pay attention to the screw shaft's operating status. Pressure fluctuations can affect the speed at which sludge is pushed through the chamber. If pressure is too high, hindering sludge flow, adjust the screw shaft speed accordingly to ensure smooth sludge advancement. If pressure is too low, optimize the speed to improve extrusion efficiency. By coordinating pressure and speed, a balanced operating state can be achieved.
Over extended operation, the pressure adjustment components may be affected by wear and tear from sludge or mechanical loosening. Regularly clean the baffle and surrounding areas to prevent residual sludge from impairing adjustment. Also, check the adjustment mechanism for flexibility and lubricate and maintain the connections to ensure the baffle accurately responds to adjustment operations, maintain stable and reliable pressure control, and ensure consistent dewatering results.
