1. Consider the quality of sewage
Analyze the size, shape, concentration, and fiber content of solid particles in sewage. If the sewage contains a large number of large particle impurities, such as sand and gravel, large suspended solids, etc., it is necessary to select a screen with a larger aperture and higher strength to prevent blockage and ensure the smooth passage of sewage.
2. Treatment flow requirements
Select the appropriate screen area and flow capacity according to the designed treatment flow of the MBBR system. Systems with large treatment flow need to select equipment with strong flow capacity and large screen area to ensure that sewage can pass through the screen in time at high flow rates to avoid overflow or reduced treatment efficiency. Generally speaking, the required screen area can be calculated based on the design flow and the recommended flow velocity of the screen. For example, for an MBBR system with a design flow rate of 1000 cubic meters per day, if the recommended flow rate of the screen is 10 cubic meters per (square meters per hour), the required screen area is at least 4.2 square meters (considering 24-hour operation).

3. Screen material
Choose the appropriate material according to the corrosiveness of the sewage and the operating environment. Common materials include stainless steel, carbon steel, plastic, etc. Stainless steel has good corrosion resistance and strength and is suitable for most sewage environments, but the cost is relatively high. Carbon steel has high strength, but is prone to rust and corrosion, and requires anti-corrosion treatment, such as painting or galvanizing, which is suitable for occasions where corrosion resistance is not required. Plastic material is light, corrosion-resistant, and has a low cost, but is relatively weak in strength. It is suitable for treating sewage with strong corrosiveness but less solid particles.
4. Equipment type
Common sewage screen equipment includes rotary screens, vibrating screens, fixed screens, etc. Rotary screens and vibrating screens have high screening efficiency and self-cleaning ability and are suitable for treating sewage with large flow and high impurity content. Fixed screens have a simple structure and low cost, but require regular manual cleaning. They are suitable for small MBBR systems or when the impurity content in sewage is low.
