Methods to prevent coarse bubble diffuser for aeration tanks from clogging

1. Influent Pretreatment
Grille interception: Before the sewage enters the aeration tank, coarse and fine grates are set to intercept larger suspended matter and floating objects, such as branches and plastic bags, to prevent these debris from entering the diffuser and causing clogging.
Grit treatment: Remove inorganic particles such as sand from the sewage through the grit chamber. The accumulation of sand in the diffuser will hinder the flow of gas. Regular cleaning of the grit chamber can effectively reduce the risk of such clogging.
2. Water Quality Control
Control pH value: Maintain the pH value of sewage in an appropriate range (usually 6.5 - 8.5) to avoid chemical substances precipitating on the diffuser surface due to abnormal pH value. Too strong acidity or alkalinity may cause metal ion precipitation or crystallization of certain compounds.
Reduce pollutant concentration: If the concentration of organic matter, grease and other pollutants in the sewage is too high, it is easy to adhere and accumulate on the microporous surface of the diffuser. The pollutant load of sewage entering the aeration tank can be reduced by optimizing the front-end treatment process, such as improving the sedimentation effect of the primary sedimentation tank.
3. Equipment Maintenance
Regular backwashing: formulate a reasonable backwashing cycle and use compressed air or high-pressure water to backwash the diffuser. Generally, it is carried out once a week or every two weeks to flush out the impurities accumulated in the micropores and restore the ventilation performance of the diffuser.
Inspection and replacement: Regularly check the appearance of the diffuser to check whether it is damaged or deformed. For diffusers that have been used for a long time, are severely blocked and cannot be restored by backwashing, they should be replaced in time to ensure the stable operation of the aeration system.
4. Operation Management
Reasonable aeration: Accurately adjust the aeration volume according to the changes in sewage quality and water volume. Avoid too small aeration volume, which will cause the gas flow rate in the diffuser to be too low and impurities to precipitate; at the same time, prevent too large aeration volume from causing mechanical damage to the diffuser.
Uniform air distribution: Ensure that the gas distribution of each branch of the aeration system is uniform to avoid excessive or insufficient local gas volume. By adjusting the valve opening and optimizing the pipeline layout, uniform gas distribution can be achieved to reduce local blockage caused by uneven gas volume.
