1. Regular Maintenance
Cleaning operation: formulate a strict cleaning plan and rinse the screen regularly. Because impurities in sewage are easy to adhere to the screen, block the mesh and reduce the water flow capacity. For example, use a high-pressure water gun to rinse the screen surface in all directions every week to remove attached suspended matter, biofilm and other impurities to keep the screen clean and unobstructed.
Check the fastening parts: Check and tighten the installation and connection parts of the screen, such as bolts and buckles, once a month. Under the long-term impact of water flow, these parts may loosen, causing the screen to shift or gaps to appear, affecting the interception effect. Tighten the loose parts in time to ensure that the screen is installed firmly.
2. Optimize Operating Parameters
Regulate water flow conditions: Accurately adjust the water flow rate and flow rate according to the actual operating conditions of the MBBR system. Avoid mechanical damage to the screen due to excessively high flow rate, or prevent impurities from precipitating and clogging the screen due to too low flow rate. For example, by adjusting the frequency of the water inlet pump, the flow rate of sewage in the reactor can be kept stable within the range of ±10% of the design flow rate to ensure the long-term stable operation of the screen.
Stabilize aeration parameters: Reasonably control the aeration intensity and time to prevent excessive aeration from impacting the screen. Stable aeration conditions can reduce physical damage to the screen, and at the same time help maintain a good biological treatment environment and reduce the risk of screen blockage caused by water quality deterioration. Regularly test the aeration system to ensure its stable operation.

3. Water Quality Monitoring and Pretreatment
Strengthen water quality monitoring: Pay close attention to the quality of incoming water and increase the frequency of testing for suspended matter, grease, fiber and other substances that are prone to cause screen blockage. Once abnormal water quality is found, take timely countermeasures, such as strengthening pre-stage sedimentation, filtration and other pretreatment processes to reduce the impurity content of sewage entering the MBBR system.
Optimize pretreatment process: Improve the sewage pretreatment process, such as adding grilles, flotation and other equipment at the front end to further remove large particles and grease in sewage, reduce the burden of screen interception, and extend the service life of the screen.
4. Emergency Response Mechanism
Develop an emergency plan: Develop a detailed emergency plan for sudden blockage, damage, etc. of the screen. Clarify the emergency handling process, responsible personnel and required materials to ensure rapid response in an emergency and reduce the impact on the operation of the MBBR system.
Reserve spare screens: Reserve a certain number of spare screens in advance, and the model is consistent with the existing screens. When the screen is severely damaged and cannot be repaired, it can be replaced in time to ensure the continuous operation of the system.
