Wedge Wire Screens
Stainless steel wedge wire screens, also called Mbbr media retention screen, is a type of cylindrical shape wedge wire screen, which is made of stainless steel wires and support rods. As the wedge wire screen is working under high pressure when separation and filtration, so there is reinforced rods on the structure. The wedge wire screen supports are designed to withstand the buoyant forces of media and accommodate the full weight of media during draining. All supports are sized by structural engineers and supplied as integral components of each customized system.

Overview
Pepsi-Cola is a carbonated beverage that is produced and manufactured by PepsiCo. Pepsi-Cola Nanjing Co. WWTP is located in the Nanjing Economic Zone. Pepsi-Cola was made of carbonated water, sugar, vanilla, rare oils, and kola nuts.
Designed with a capacity of 600m3/d, the WWTP is used to treat wastewater discharged during the production process and the effluent can be raised to the local municipal sewage plant.
Challenge
The parameters of Inlet and outlet of the WWTP are as follows:
Parameter | Unit | Inlet values | Outlet values |
COD | mg/L | 3,510 | 100 |
BOD5 | mg/L | 1,820 | 20 |
NH4-N | mg/l | ≤ 50 | ≤ 15 |
Ntotal | mg/l | 100 | - |
Total suspended solids | mg/l | 2000 | ≤ 100 |
Waste water temperature | °C | 25 | - |

Flow Chart of the Process

Results
MBBR biofilm process was successfully started up in mid May 2017. The performance tests were successful. The biofilms attached to the media surface grow well. The system meets the design standard of water outlet.
