Product Introduction
BioCell MBBR screen is a core component designed for a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR). It is used to efficiently intercept and retain biological fillers (such as polyethylene/polypropylene suspended carriers) in the reactor while allowing the treated water to pass smoothly. The main function is to remove organic matter nitrogen, and phosphorus from wastewater and improve water quality. It is a biofilm reactor that uses biological attachment to fillers for biofilm reaction and biological degradation of organic matter nitrogen, and phosphorus to purify water. It adopts a modular stainless steel structure and is installed at the outlet of the MBBR reactor to prevent the loss of biological fillers and ensure the treatment efficiency and stability of the system.

The approach of MBBR retention screens is developing on the basis of engineering practice. Early designs used vertically mounted stainless-steel flat-panel sieves. Now, horizontally configured stainless-steel wedge-wire sieves are usually used in MBBR applications. When placed horizontally, its position and orientation are favorable for the carrier to scrub the sieves and avoid the blockage of the carrier and waste.


The stainless steel wedge-wire sieve traps the biofilm carrier while allowing the treated wastewater and shed biofilm to flow to the next stage of treatment.
When vertical-mounted flat-panel sieves are used, an air-sparge system should be mounted along the bottom edge of the panels to periodically pulse the sieves and prevent any accumulation of waste.
